Impressions

Man, this pistol is awesome! I won it from a Trademe auction and just had it sitting around for a week or so until Sunday when I went out with Yoichi for a little bit of shooting.
Now, being a n00b I haven't spent a lot of time shooting but I had hands-on two weeks prior with a gas-powered M92F and I could definitely see a difference with the Mk23 being more powerful and accurate.
There are a few downsides to the Mk23 of course, in the fact that the gun itself is damn big which makes finding a decent holster for game use a little difficult. The LAM is also cheap-ass, being made of light plastic and is more for aesthetics than actual use (The real reason why I bought this gun? It's the first weapon you come across in Metal Gear Solid 1 :D)

The Silencer that comes with it is actual useful as well, turning the guns audible shot into little more than a muffled 'pop', although it does add 18.2cm to the gun length.

If anyone has chrono'd one of these I'd be interested to know what it fires at, and also if anyone knows where to find a decent clip (not velcro!) hip holster,I'd greatly appreciate it! ^^

He's a few pictures of some of my gear, none of the loadouts are complete or accurate but good enough.

Firstly my flecktarn loads, a set of BDU's, cap & t-shitin dansktarn, great for lush green areas and the rest is all issue BW flecktarn. Includes webset with 4 G3 pouches, P38 holster, hooded parka, pants, helmet cover, winter cap, m43 type cap with two buttons under emblem and baseball cap.

Switching sides of the wall an NVA laodout in Blumentarn. The parka and pants by sturm not really a repro, but they do make 1:1 replaca uniforms. All the rest the real deal including zelt, ammo pouch, belt, y-straps, breadbag and canteen. Need an early pattern bayonet.

Impressions
Oh man, is this thing beautiful! It arrived by courier this afternoon from RedWolf and as soon as I had the lid off the box (even the box is high-quality!) I was grinning ear-to-ear.
A few things I've noticed:
- I *love* the way the safety flicks on when you pull the slide while the mag is in. May not be anything big but it's stylish when you click that safety off and the slide flings back into place :cool:
- The mag chamber is quite a tight fit, although I don't know how it is with the other TM M92F models.
I'm hoping to be able to gas this baby up on Sunday and have a good shootout with it.

Damn I miss the Blade Cougar. Threaded compensator accepted certain silencers *perfectly* and it was amazingly quiet for a blowback, even on full-auto.
If it hadn't been a WA and so damn finicky/expensive/rare I would have skirmished this all the time. I used it once, and it was loads of fun but not worth the risk, especially with a long silencer on it. Oh well:

The rumours were true, in comparison with my ak103 i can honestly say this is a Inokatsu/RMW/Guarder kit stolen by G&G.

It has Izmash 1977 trades (a big bonus for me).

The wood is laminate and i can't tell it apart from the real steel russian handguards i have.

Internals are solid. This thing is built like a brick shit house.

My advice to anyone looking at buying an AK; go no further than this gun.

Infact i am looking at getting another to use as a project gun.

Painted the fake wooden parts, weakened the trigger spring to produce only 1joule of energy now over the ~1.3 or so they come with stock (300fps with .34g 8mm bbs) and removed the ?????rifle???? sites off the shotgun???? WTF and put a bead on it like a real steel. So here is my new toy :D

The current paint job is actually that Resene Judge Grey that is more closely seen in the paint job image. The paint on the slide (and frame) was about 3 layers of Krylon tan (what is also on the grips, which I think was about 5 layers.) as an undercoat (about 2 years ago)
You can also see that god-awful stuff that Amoki had done to his Eotech.
As an aside - people, if you want to get an Eotech (clone) and want to paint it, just get a black one. The 'shield' is anodised in black. I left it un-primed.

Here is a better pic of the colour. I'm also impressed with the quality of the eotech replica. It's the third one I've seen but first one I have owned. The red option works fine, I find the green a bit fuzzy and hard to see (on all the ones I have handled).

I can't find much info on the real one but it was a cheap and easy project, gun and silencer cost $90NZ landed, joining them together took about 20mins, i'm please with the result, may do one or two other things to tidy it up.

Base gun is a KJW Ruger MKI from Ehobbyasia.

I'll be replacing the stock with a crane style. I'm not sure about keeping the full metal VFG. It's great to use... but for a Mk18 mod 0, I need either a KAC style VFG, CQD VFG, or TD VFG.. I've yet to find a reference pic including a Troy one, like I have now.

Ares G36 abomination i got about a month ago from HK.

Got back from LA today, brought back the M14 and the Typewriter in my checked luggage on a Qantas flight. so to clear this up for people,when overseas don't waste your time or money with shipping....bring it back with you but declare them. At Auckland Airport customs and the police both checked them but as long as they are semi they are legal. I have heard a lot of BS around this subject and i hope this clears up some of it:D

Its fully working, there is the countdown timer and bomb armed display that lights up in the middle. to turn the bomb on you type in pin code. there is a momentary key that the terrorists then take and put around their necks. This is needed to complete the circut to allow the defuse buttons to be pressed. if either the momentary key or the button is let go of the defuse time is reset. siren is mounted under the cell phone.

Here are some pics of my gbbs.
I loved the scar the moment I saw it. Firing something with recoil really got my juices flowing. I threw some colour detail at it (couldn't help myself) and can't wait to shoot at something other than beer cans.

Not as well completed as some others, but the 1911 arived as a solid black WE with fake black and white grip.

I removed some paint and made a temporary set of grips until I make some new ones.
