Helloo there people
i'm new to airsoft and just wondering about something
is it possible to go to another country, buy a metal airsoft pistol (just random variable) and take it with you into new zealand? do you need any paperworks?

Possible if airsoft gun ownership from the place you visit is legal and if you are flying direct to Auckland into NZ and they are in your luggage, but the hassles - both overseas and during entry - you'll attract is not worth it. There are other more hassle-free ways to send an airsoft gun back here.
If you're passing through Australia, I would imagine it's a no go as airsoft and imitation firearms are banned in Aus.

Well, it is completely legal at the place i am and that i am flying directly into new zealand through auckland airport :D

you can order in most gas (metal) blow backs for around $200 landed with an extra mag.
If i were you id go to the shop anyway and get a feel for the gun you want

You generally have to apply to the airline for a permit to transport. This needs to be done in advance (several weeks) for international travel. They'll need full descriptions, numbers (which are difficult to explain) and it can bee no more than 5.56 in calibre for commercial without a MASSIVE amount of paperwork so don't even mention 6mm. More trouble than it's worth unless bring a massive amount when moving country as I did.
