Hey guys,
My family and I will be moving to NZ hopefully at the beginning of 2009 (March or April) I just wanted to ask a few questions and maybe you guys could help me out by answering them.
1) I understand that fully automatic AEGs are not legal in NZ. Are grenade launchers allowed?
2) Do I have to get some sort of gun ownership license to own my airsoft guns?
3) I don't have to leave my guns at a gun club like I have to leave my handguns at a firearms club do I?
Any extra info you can give me will be much appreciated.
Just thought I would tell you guys a little about myself real quick before I post up the topic. First off I am 18 years old and live here in Myrtle Beach SC. I do WWII reenacting and I also play paintball competitively. I have quite a few airsoft guns ranging from highly upgraded spring sniper rifles to gas blow back pistols and also hidden in my armory is an Airsharps 30 caliber Machine Gun. Here are a few pics of my loadout and a few of my guns.

Hey man and welcome

Grenade launchers are fine :) Semi-auto guns are fine too, if you have your AEGS semi'd properly and cannot be easily converted back then they are legal too, but check with NZ Customs first.
2) Do I have to get some sort of gun ownership license to own my airsoft guns?
Since you are 18 you do not need a licence in NZ
3) I don't have to leave my guns at a gun club like I have to leave my handguns at a firearms club do I?
Airsoft guns are in the same category as Air rifles in this country so you do not need to leave them anywhere, you can store these at home, but its highly recommended you purchase a suitable gun safe (approximately $300ish NZ)
Any extra info you can give me will be much appreciated.
Best advice dude is if you know where you are going to be living with you migrate here, look in the club recruitment forum and contact the club member responsible for that club and they will get you sorted for when you come over.
As for bringing your guns over, you might be better to come over first and then have them shipped here, or else you will have to let NZ customs know, best bet is to contact them before hand, i would get the ball rolling as soon as your flights are booked. and make sure you label your boxs with your guns clearly and truthfully.

Thanks I appreciate the quick response. We are looking into moving over in the Wellington area or Christchurch. My Dad is opening up an esquires coffee house so it depends where they need a coffee house at the time of our move.

You could get them shipped to either one of the clubs armourers before you leave. That was you know they are semied correctly and will/should just fly through customs.

We at Wellington Rifles primarily do Vietnam reenacting. There are some of us who partake in WW1 and WW2.
Well if you come to wellington There are the 232 crew, WAC and RuB. Think WAC might do some reenactment but if you just keen for a game drop a post on one of the club forums.
Cheers!

Anyhting can be converted to semi auto. If it cant be done mechanically then you will need to put a semi auto mosfet into the gun. But if the gun burst fires at customs then you have trouble on your hands.

Don't most of Killbuckets guns run for M14 mechs? or is it one of the M249 ones? if its and M14 you should have no problems making it semi.

Lol I have Brothers In Arms for the 360 right now. Because I recently stayed with an uncle I had nothign to do so have beat the game on all difficulties about 2 times each. I think its the greatest WWII game as far as the campaign goes. Its a great story and very developed.
Also the 30 cal is a M14 base so yes I should be able to convert it. I also have a large M249 box mag for it. It really is a beast. I will have to post a video of it in action for you guys.
