Hi, I was thinking of investing in a TM MP5 SD6, but having never fired one I was hoping someone might have some feedback on it for me. Cheers.
well, firstly 'investment' is the wrong word for it.
2ndly the TM Mp5SD is good
3rdly if you can swing it, the Classic Army MP5SD is better - it really is.. because of the full metal goodness and a different hop-system
4thly the only two AEGS that I have heard that are quieter than the MP5SD are the TM MP7 with a 200mm silence and the G&G UMP with silencer attached.
If I were to get another MP5, I would personally look at the CA. :)

Totally agree, my best gun every till I snapped it in half.

Try a P90 with foam between the body and gearbox and a silencer. Unbelievalbe. Have to stick it by your ear to hear the thing.

I saw a P90 that had something similar but the guy took the effort to line the internal of the gun with that automotive sound deadening crap. What a massive difference it made :P
I have to look into putting some sound deadening in my FAMAS as because hte mech is RIGHT NEXT TO YOUR EAR it makes your ears ring after 10-12 shots

hehehe, sounds like my AUG
Beowulf - that I have heard. :) I have not heard said P90. :) That has lots of possibilities though, as does (I know) the AUG with sound dampening stuff on the mech.

I have contemplated doing this to my P-90, but in reality with a silencer on it (not the TM one that it comes with) it is pretty silent anyway. The only annoying thing is that, of course, the motor is right beside your head, so it isnt untill you hear someone else shooting it that you realise how quiet it really is

Quietest gun i ever used was a Jg Bar 10 cardboard box.... Took the box the gun came in and held it like a gun :) Had the gun on the side of the box so i knew where to put my hands :)

It even has that Desert Tan camo job :P shame the range sucked so hard :D
And dont forget it was a G-Spec, so it was a silenced carbdoard box :)

I think thats a record for how quickly a post got off topic, if only by a little.

If only by a little? How about the PAC meeting thread that went from PAC Meeting details in the first post to Me and Adrian fighting by the 3rd post
ok.. back to the comments about the TM? MP5?
If you don't want the SD series, you could go the A5 series and then get a silencer for it instead...

that one has been modifed though.. the others haven't
I've heard the ICS MP5SD is the shiznit though.... i'd go with ICS
Supes, which club are you in? Your armourer should be able to help you come to some kind of decision :)

I've just joined the WAC club so will ask the armourer at the next meet. I always thought that Chinese made was "evil" and that TM was the only way... apparently I am such a newbee! The Classic Army Mp5 SD6 looks pretty good, I will check out the ICS also... decisions decisions decisions!!! Cheers

if you want a cheap one and can find it, JG make a good one*
*So i'm told
Ask Sierra from DAC what he thought tho, he had it

down here in DAC, i have been on the reciving end of 2 JG MP5 SD6s. yeah sure they shoot nice. but both of them have broken down due to crappy triggers...eh get sierra to elaborate. the JG looks feels and sounds really nice but id say has reliability issues
We had two JG MP5's. body is alot better than i expected but the internals are pretty crap. Both arrived in the country bursting (bad internal setup)
Subsequently one has undergone a G&G mechbox replacement and the mechbox from that one has gone into tweaking its sister gun
JG shimming on their Full metal MP5 could definately improve, but overall parts quality isn't too bad. Seen triggers break and sliding stock assembly lock break but most of the internals are tough.
ICS has issues, particularly airseal between Hop up and internals are no where as robust as JG. Piston, bevel, motor and electricals require replacement. Sliding stock cap is also plastic. The overall gun is lightweight, and toylike, reliability isn't as good as a JG or a CA.
CA, so far it is the best quality MP5 that I have seen (I haven't seen the G&G). Sliding stock cap/assembly is part metal so the stock doesn't wobble as much. Inner barrel slides out after a modular field stripping of the upper and lower receiver, and the gun is comfortably weighty (though the SD is a bit more front heavy than the real deal). All that is required is a new motor, and change all the connectors to Deans and the gun is functional as is without mechbox dissassembly.
The perfect SD would be a CA, with an ICS silencer, that would be almost if not exact to real balance and feel, with the performance of a CA.

Yeh both JG mp5s that ive imported have had very serious issues. Pretty much both needed a rebuild after the first game.

With a TM, as long as you don't go messing around with the internals it will run forever. Had one for many many years before i came to new Zealand. I was about the 6th owner of the gun. Still stock and still ran perfectly (minus alot of paint =P)

I've had the ICS MP5SD6 recommended to me, when I finally get around to getting a primary (goddamn current US$/NZ$ rates..) but I'm in the same boat as you, I haven't decided yet either.
