Well as most wil say get along to a club meet the teams, and talk to an armourer, depends what team you wanna join, you have RuB, WAC, DC4 and 232 if you are already with one of them ignore that!! Trademe can turn up some good buys every so often but its buyer beware, hope you got someone who will look after your guns til your 18!!! Anyway hope to see you on the field soon!!!

As you are 17, legally you should not be buying, or owning any airsoft guns. If you are keen to wait untill 18, or willing to get firearms licence then id say most clubs in your area would be keen for new members. As nighthawk has said, you can get in contact with anyone of them clubs and hopefully get to try out a game with them.

Hope this helps

Sorry to say this bro but Kronos had every right to say what he said.

Now the reason being is that we get alot of young people on here and we have to cover our asses. Alot of people will be saying wait until your 18/get a firearms licence/words to that extent if your not legally allowed to own an airsoft gun yet. We aint trying to be assholes :P

Okay well don;t you worry about me Bane

I'm not young and stupid, i've done a lot of research and no way will i be breaking any laws.

Then again my view are probably very self centered and i should think more about the younger guys like me not giving a toss about the law:o

Hey, No worries, i'm sure you were just covering your own moral Integrity

I don't think 'moral integrity' has anything to do with the stance almost all ASNZ'ers take on underage people asking how to get Airsoft gear.

Airsoft guns in general get enough bad press on their own without ASNZ members helping out underage people to get the gear, Bane and Kronos are only trying to stop any problems for our sport by obeying the law.

:D Well said, I would comment more but ill just sound like a hippocrit, being underage myself:(

Im only 16 myself, and McArthur is another young one (you probly seen his posts if your browsing the threads) . The older guys have been very helpful to us.

Maybe for the mean time look at getting some good boots, maybe some DPM if you want and some goggles can never go amiss!!!

Kronos

:S i dont look at it that way, although i may not seem it, im very appreciative of all the information on this site that gets passed around. It helps us younger people learn the game we enjoy soo much. Dont worry mate, someone will take you up under their wing and teach you atleats the basics.

did some one say 'pretty much legal'?

Pacestick - as mentioned, a bloody good way to see the gear and also play with it BEFORE you throw your hardly earned readies away is to get out and see it played/happening.
Go through website after website and read read read and read some more about stuff.

Two of the best purchases you can make are goggles and footwear. Goggles (if you don't have glasses) are easy to sort but footwear can take time. Mind you, goggles can take time to find the right sort and style for you as well - especially as your game style and preferences evolve.
Then the next thing to get would be some sort of clothing that is greenish or brownish in colour before you need to start looking at weird camo patterns - heck, even a DPM short and hat (green or otherwise) and some darkpants will be a good start - unless you want to go the balaclava, DPM jacket, blue jeans, dark combat boots PIRA look.
If/when you first get your airsoft gun, get some sort of a satchel so you can carry a magazine or two, some water, some bbs etc.

Then, start saving your $$ from there :)

There are a couple of good places in NZ that do sell semi-ed AEGs.. one being down Christchurch way? (and another for that matter :P) and another group who sell SRC and WE range of items up here in Auckland.

Also thought I'd mention there is a fire-arms retailer here in Tauranga that sell brand new factory semi'd G&G's. They have most of the range. Very exspensive being a retailer and the guns being G&G but the idea of having a store you can pick the gun up from brand new and have a warrenty etc maybe worth it (when you get the stage of being able to legally purchase one, you might be able to afford it:D)

Only mentioned as the previous post mentioned retaillers already

Meh stuff the facemask, showem your age dont make you a wimp :) If your worried about the pain, let your airsoft club shoot you in the back with all there guns for a bit *Willingly* and possibly take a sniper rifle bullet to the back of the head... Youll never feel airsoft pain again :)

Cheers SprocketMan

Thats sort of what i got a mate to do at my first game.

He shot me in the back with his Berreta (M9) and another mate Took the oppertunity to sneak in a shot at me with His M4.

Personally I dont want a face mask But its like my dads One condition of me playing airsoft.

Im normally quite happy with my Cheap Goggles

Where are you going to buy it from? Best go through your clubs armourer and get it imported specially for you, saves money and guarantees a new product, not some overpriced used gun :)

I have a DBoys SPR - they use the same receivers/gearboxes for all their armalites.

the upper and lower receiver may not fit together tightly so theres a bit of a wobble, but the gearboxes seem ok. quite a good price for a full metal gun and the quality is ok for a chinese clone
