So, If I was looking at getting a ECHO 1 (JG) G36c, what kind of batteries would be needed? I'm looking in http://rcb.shopnz.biz/catalog/ at the moment, but I have no idea what all the technical terms mean, so I was wondering if somebody could advise me on what kind of battery and charger I would need to buy?

How many batteries are needed for a days worth of games?

Also, money is not much of an issue at this point, I'll be working for the next 6 months before I start airsoft, so I have plenty of time to earn the dough :p

Join a club and then ask the armourier how much a gun costs and what batterys you will need.

Batterys in the end of the day is the cheap part.

If i was you and were really keen to go into airsoft start getting your clothing sorted out 1st. That is the harder thing.

BDUs, Vest, Face mask, Boots, Hats ect ect are the things to aim for 1st since you are still 15. When you turn 16 with a firearms licence its only 2 weeks to get in a new gun via the armourer :)

I use 1400MaH Intellect.
Mine are 9.6v though.
Fit sweet as.

be careful of the intellect batteries, they run their batteries to the absolute limit and are subject to HEXXXtreme failure...there are at least three in CSG that have suffered that, plus i remember amoki (or darkman?) had a dead one at the nats, by dead i mean one cell gets left out of the charging process, screams, or gets horribly hot...and the battery is good for a paperweight

All batteries are subject to failure. Poor chargers are the main culprit.

One of my Intellects, a 1200 mAh 8.4 V mini type, is a bit sad - however it got severely cooked by a malfunctioning charger. By severe: it was poking 8 A into it for an unknown length of time before I noticed that the battery was making distinct sizzling sounds and checked. It does still work, amazingly, but doesn't have anywhere near as much grunt as the 1400 mAh Intellect I bought to replace it. (That charger was very poorly made, despite being expensive. I replaced it with a BOL model that looks weird but works fine.)

Buy a good charger and any battery that isn't suspiciously cheap and you should have minimal problems. The cheap chargers that come with Chinese made guns are terrible, and the batteries are usually next to useless.

So what kind of charger should I be looking for, If I buy the batteries that Yoichi suggested?

Oh yeah, Blackhawk, I spent hours this arvo trawling through the net putting together a big price list. Found the clothing and stuff like that! Just got these things like batteries and radios to sort out now :)

For batteries, it really is better to spend a tiny bit more. Like, dont go for the cheapest you see.

I recently did a comparison test between two same voltage batteries, but Intellects vs standard Shuang-Ba (Stock batteries that come with Chinese guns)

The voltage output, even though they claimed to be 8.4, was vastly different.

Intellects put out a near constant 8.2-8.4. The Shuang-Ba batteries put out 6.5-7.

Same with Lipols. Your better spending a tiny bit more for the better quality.

i've had two different TLP chargers and neither have killed any of my own batteries, one of the dead intellect ones charged on my charger, but i'd hardly say it was to blame as there have been roughly 40+ others (it gets around) on my current charger and they are still living it up large. some of them may be living it up in rio hiding out from the nazi hunters, but you know...they are going hard all the same

Where do you buy these TLP chargers?

Buying batterys before a gun is like buying a bathroom before you build a house lol. You might go to a game before you get a gun and then deciede you might like to get a mp4 or a m16 full stock and then you would want a bigger battery :D

Mr Holmes.. I mean.. Dirk... did yours fit in WITHOUT modding to the g36 inner area? Or with modding. I know mine required modding to fit the 1400mah battery.

Edit.. realised that you probably meant the 8.4 volt, and not the 9.6 that I gots.. :)

Well, actually BLACKHAWK, I am writing this list on the basis that I will like the G36. If I really don't like it, I will change my list accordingly. However, I am not buying batteries just yet, just finding them.

Time spent on reconnisance is seldom wasted.

personally i buy most of my stuff from Wargamers (www.wgcshop.com), however other suggestions could be Redwolf, UNCompany, eHobbyAsia etc

I did no mods.
I only have one 8.4v JG battery that fits in with room to spare. 9.6v Intellect fit perfectly, no srtuggle to squeeze, but no room to move.
My wiring set up has the plug just tucked into the reciever, not down the side of the outer barrel, where there is space designed for it; if that makes a difference.
And keeping in mind the Intellect have those black end caps on their batteries too!

You dont need to worry so much :) Get yourself a nice charger first that does lipos, and everything else :D they cost like 200$ for a really really nice one.

9.6 fits with the plug beside the barrel, snug but no extra force required to close it.

For those using 9.6 V batteries.

Have you noticed any difference in performance with using 9.6 V compared to 8.4 V? In theory, the extra voltage should make the motor turn slightly faster, but the current delivery would be more important and the extra cell would probably impede this slightly (more series resistance, assuming the same cells used).

blackhawk i have a lipo charger that cost just over $100, for my RC cars...it is a balancer type also, purchased from shitty acorn models...but was worth it back then...cos it still goes hard and its doing my gun batts too now...i forget the brand, but i will go hunt it out in the morning

O na i was more meaning a full monty one that does nicads, lipos, lilos, namh you know the whole shabang. You can never afford to skimp out on a charger with your expensive 70$ batterys :D

But i do agree with you good chargers are good and last a lifetime :)

The Hyperion chargers for sale at RCBandit are probably your best value for $$

I got EOS5iDP and that does everything but Lithium-Ion. Even does Gel-Cell batteries. They sell one thats the version up that has a built in balancer, but i couldnt afford the $200 whack so i got the $140 version and spent $50 on a balancer later on
