Default Welcome to Airsoft (Please read before posting)

Greetings to Airsoft.net.nz and welcome to the great sport of airsoft.

Airsoft.net.nz is the communications hub of Airsoft in New Zealand. It is here that people from clubs all around the country that play airsoft discuss the sport, the rules involved, their latest "toy", when the next major event is etc. If you are new to airsoft then welcome! You have come to the right place.

Feel free to ask questions about our sport and how its run here in New Zealand. You should hopefully find the other players are helpful and welcoming. If not, feel free to contact me directly and we will resolve things

Now, please, before posting, read the following FAQ's I have put here. I wont go into what Airsoft actually is, as a quick search on Google will answer that for you. Instead I will focus on the questions we get here most often.
"What should I get first?"

To start airsoft you need one thing more importantly than anything else. GOOD SAFETY GLASSES. These should be fully impact resistant and good quality. Something like a paintballl mask or good shooting glasses should do the trick. In either case they will be tested on the day

After that, a set of camo and sole good supporting boots would be highly recommended.

"I want to play airsoft, can I?"

Well first you need too look at yourself. Are you 18? If not are you 16+ with a fire arms license? If the answer is no to both of these, then sorry, you cant play just yet. And neither can you own airsoft guns.

However, you will find that alot of players and clubs will still be happy to let you come out and have a look around and try the guns on the range, to keep the cravings for the sport high for when you do fit the criteria for the law to allow you to play.

"Whats a good gun to get?" or "Is this a good gun?"

Every time, without fail, someone asks this question. In fact, I asked this question myself when I first started. But the answer always has and always will be the same.

Before you get a gun, make sure you go along to your nearest club and have a play with the guns, hold them, shoot them and drool on them. What gun suits you is entirely your own preference, and you may find that, after firing off a few rounds, that the gun you used to think was awesome isnt.

Also, most clubs here dont like guys using how powered guns like sniper rifles when they are new, as they can lead to damage.

"Where can I get a gun"

This seems to almost always be one of the first questions we get asked. And the answer for this is simple. Through your club armourer.

Every club has a designated person or persons who's job it is to get in guns and maintain them for their club. They will make sure you get a good deal for a gun and that it arrives safely. Due to NZ law on gun imports we have this system in place so that we can get our guns securely and it helps keep them out of the wrong hands. Trust me, these guys are far cheaper and have access to better stuff than the hacks on trade me.

So, if you want a gun, the only way to do it is join a club and ask your club armourer.

"OK so what are the clubs?"

Clubs are the backbone of our sport in this country. It is the way we organise ourselves and the way that we manage ourselves concerning the laws and rules in place to govern airsoft. some cities have several and others may find that their nearest one is an hours or more drive away.

Its the clubs jobs to make sure that you use your airsoft weaponry with care and responsibility. The clubs are the difference between a bunch of guys and gals playing a great sport, and the idiots you here about in the news shooting people with their two dollar shop guns

The clubs have the benefit of established playing fields, lots of good players full of info and skills, the club armourers etc. In reality theres no good reason NOT to want to be part of a club.

Have you noticed the trend yet? Thats right, before you do anything else, you should contact your local club and have a chat to them. They will guide you towards what you need to get into what is quite possibly the coolest sport in the world.

Thanks and again welcome to our sport

She needs to be dressed with flashy accessories to be attractive.
The kalashnikov is beautiful in herself.
She does not need stilettos and lipstick.
You may want to have a one night stand with a Stoner Rifle, but you marry the Kalashnikov.
